I'm hoping to get a new road bike and don't know if I should build it myself from parts or get a generic one. The ones I had looked at where the Giant OCR team rep and the saracen tourmolont (sp). I think that if I DIY it then I cna get a better bike for the price £800 - £1000. Ideas please

If you have the tools and knowledge as far as torque rates for specific bolts, DIY. Other wise, most tricky are bottom bracket and crank, headset. Possibly have the shop do them.

Luckly enough I started working in a bike store, well halfords a couple of week back so have access to tools and discount on bikes and parts. DIY is Do it Yourself, an english term cos I think most of you are for the USA right.

cheers

DIY for sure - that way you know it's right, andyou can set the bike up just the way you want it. Good luck!

The only thingI'm not sure about is will I be able to get the same standar of bike for the same cost. I cna get a raleigh R400 for just uner £875 and am tempted cos it's anice bike from what I've seen off it.
