|I'm looking to pull the trigger on a bike from the classified section. Does anyone have some good advise before I finalise the deal. What sort of payment is best if the sales is between 2 individuals.|

|Are you familiar with paypal.com? Check it out.
Also, I bought a very sweet bike from the Classifieds and had it come COD. That protects both buyer and seller, with only modest inconvenience.
I'd skip all other methods check/cashier's check/whatever.

|I have bought two bikes via internet classifieds with great success. Seems most cyclists are inherently honest. On the other hand, all my internet purchases have been good.
But to answere your question. If you purchase COD and pay with a cashier's check, you will have two days to verify the bike is what it is susposed to be. I didn't know it until I asked the bank, but a cashier's check actually has a two day hold. But you better not cancel payment unless you have a VERY valid reason. You should make sure your bank allows the stop payment. Other than this, I think you can get a good idea of the individual you are dealing with just by talking with them on the phone. In fact, I wouldn't make a big dollar purchase without a few phone conversations.
