You can get some REALLY good hand made frames for under $1200 if you search the net. GVH Bikes has one of the best selections I have seen. He has pictures of every frame he has in stock, and he posts the top tube length on every description. You can't really go wrong with anything handmade.

hmmm, light and stiff...
can you say KLEIN?
- no shortcuts taken like on the crackandfails
- precision welds make their Full Sus. bike stiffer (laterally) than almost all their competitors' hardtails.
- in 1998 (when I bought mine) frame & fork w/integrated BB weighs in at 2.2 lbs (nearly the lightest frame-set out there, weighed with the BB already installed, WOW!)

"The Quantum Pro is engineered for the professional racer, and has the lightest road bike fuselage available. It offers premium performance and handles like no other bike in the world."
