Chorus rear der. wrap capability(2 posts)

Hey folks,
I'm considering swapping out my rear cluster from a 12-21 to something more humane while I still have knees left. Does anyone know offhand how many teeth an 8-speed era Chorus rear der. will wrap. BTW, it's definitely not the long cage model, if there was even such a thing in Chorus when 8-speed was being produced. It's a fairly short cage, that's why I'm concerned!
Thanks!
Kurt

My book says it has a wrap capacity of 27 teeth and a max large caapacity of 26 teeth. Both, if like shimanos specs are probably a few teeth conservative. One way to fudge wrap capacity a bit is to avoid a couple of the smaller cogs when in the small ring.
