As I am new to cycling, I was wondering about the real differences between Campagnolo and Shimano components (other than price and country of manufacture). People are so passionate about their choice, and I'm just curious. Thanks.

I found the discussion in your link of why Campy doesn't get spec'ed on production bikes very interesting (wrap-up section). I don't know if its all true but it makes sense.

That was excellent, thanks. I have been thinking about changing to Campagnolo from Dura Ace recently primarily based upon the better feel of the Ergo lever in my hand and aesthetics. Too bad the reviewer didn't address hubs as they would tell me, as Joe Young did recently, whether to use something other than Record or Dura Ace hubs.

Then the question is whether to go 10 speed or Racing Triple...

One is built to keep and rebuild over the years as needed. The other to use an throw away, perfect for the U.S.
