|I have the oppertunity to buy a used trek frame. its an older frame with carbon downtube and toptube, and maybe seattube, with an aluminum rear and aluminum lugs. i don't know the model year, or how good it is. (its black)
the frame im riding right now is an old steel gitane, good comfortable frame but a bit heavy. im wondering if the new frame for $50 canadian is a good deal for a slightly cash strapped student. also, how dumb will my polished steel fork and ancient components really look?

|Thats a good price for this frame but look at the frame closely. The early carbon/aluminum lug frames have a history of coming apart where the carbon tube joins the lug.|| |
