|Does anyone know why only my left knee hurts after about 12 miles or so?? I went to my lbs and he moved the cleat back about a quarter inch,It worked for about 2 days, Went out today rode until the same left knee started to hurt. Is it my cleats moving on me ,,the saddle height or just the bad knees syndrome???? Thanks|

|There are probably dozens of knee problems possible, several common among cyclists.
Mine, IT-band friction syndrome, showed up pretty regularly at 50 miles for a while. I seem to have fixed it by doing shorter rides as it healed, while doing stretches designed for the problem. IT band problems are on the outside of the knee, to the rear, feels like a taut band being twanged. The problem may have been aggravated by overly-long cranks.

|I've been having problems with my left knee since last fall and I've found something that provides some respite. I'm assuming you've got you saddle where it needs to be and it isn't too high or too low. A doctor I saw recommended surgery, but I just wasn't sure and another doc suggested taking a supplement, glucosamine and chondroitin. It's helped noticably, at least most of the time even though the knee has been bothering me lately, and I also ice down the knee immediately after every ride. Maybe I'm doing this right, maybe not, but for the most part it's helping. I couldn't even ride a few months ago and had to stay off the bike for about 5 weeks.|| |
