Can anybody tell me what year this ALLEZ is?LLowry

I have a Black Specialized Allez with yellow lettering. I cannot find out what year this thing is. It says Direct Drive CRO-MO on it. It is a 52-52 cm frame with Shiman RX 100 everything. What year is this bike and what would be a fair price for it?

Thats not a lot of info, but the lugged steel Allez's were made in the early to mid 90's. I remember test riding one with 105 back in '94 and that one went for about $1000. You did'nt say whether this had STI or not. With STI I'd guess you could maybe get around $300 for it if its in good condition.

STI is Shimano's integrated brake/shifter lever. They entered the market in the early 90's. At this point STI (and Campagnolo's Ergo) have virtually eliminated downtube shifters from the market.
I think I have the same bike...cory

But I don't know what year it is, either. I bought it used ($300) five or six years ago, I think, and it may have been 2-3 years old then. Did some centuries and a lot of just riding around on it. I'm using it for a backup, knockaround bike now--everything works fine, and it fits me.

Call Specialized and give them the serial number, they should be able to tell you what year it is.
