Derby Discontinuing Univega????Run-Bike

My LBS told me that Derby got into some kind of trouble and will not be carrying the Univega line in 2002.He said the bikes would carry either the Raliegh or Diamondback label. Does any one know anything about this????

The Univega line is finished as of 2001. Your LBS is correct. Pity, they made some decent bikes over the year, harkening back to their original, Italvega days. I believe they had one of the very first mass-produced mountain bikes as well, which came out the same year, or maybe a year after, the original Stumpjumper.
that's a shameLeroy L

I love my modo vincere - especially the columbus thron frame with the yellow and black paint job. I guess I'll be seeing even fewer of them from now on. Derby never did really market these bikes, and probably lost too much money on them. I got such a good deal on mine at Bike.com that they couldn't have made much on it. Great bike, though.

Very sad. Univega has been the best-kept secret in quality bikes for a good price for many, many years.
