I think not. All of the water bottles used in the Tour by every team are provided by the sponsor (Coke) and are all the same.

No, I think he is right. Those cages require small bottles. They have them for sale at Colorado Cyclist with the bottles that go with them. Not the gold plated kind, of course.

A friend has the gold plated ones - on his JB painted Serotta ti bike. (Cost no object, obviously.) He said he just stretched the cages slightly, and normal bottles work just fine. We just did a century ride together, and I didn't see any problems with the cages.
