Euro Frame vs. Custom Frames(3 posts)

Euro Frame vs. Custom FramesKevin W

I am in the market for a road bike and am curious as to your opinions on what to get. I am either looking at a Euro bike like a Colnogo or an Eddy Merckx, or a Pinnarello, or going custom and getting a Cherry, Steelman, or an IF not limited to those brands though. Is the Euro ride that different from a fully custom bicycle. They are all around the same price and am just interested in your opinions on which is better. I am a big dude and weigh 200lbs and am going to start road racing shortly, I currently race expert MTB. Thanks for the help.

Mark,

Bear in mind that you can request almost any Euro (Italian) frame with custom measurements so long as you're willing to wait a couple of months.

I'm not sure about Colnago, but I'm most certain that with Pinarello a custom fitted frame is not an issue.

The bikes you are looking at are all great bikes. A lot depends on the models you are looking at, If they fit you and the greometry fits your riding style. A custom builder gives you the option to tweek geometries to help your style of riding. A good pro fitter can work with you on what best suits your style..
