mailorder: why does this always happen to me?ET

I ordered a Topeak Joe Blow Pro track pump for $49.99 from Colorado Cyclist after my old pump went. The very next day I get an email from Performance that its Topeak Joe Blow Pro has been discounted from $49.99 to $39.99. Does this type of thing always happen to you? It's not that I'm so cheap, but rather that a good deal seems to always be waved in my face just too late. Of course, it doesn't really pay to send it back and order another, what with shipping charges. I'm left to rationalize that the taxes I would've had to pay to Performance (due to in-state stores) would cut into some of the difference, and also that if I never ordered the pump, there never would've been an email from another place discounting it. :-)
i'll bet if you call them they'll credit you the difference NMHaiku d'état

Call them and ask for the discounted price. I am sure that they would rather have your future business rather than get an exra $10 from you now and lose any chance of getting your business again. If they refuse then you can always mention the cycling boards that you are on. They don't want someone spreading bad word about their business practices. It is worth a shot to get the cheaper price. They may just give you store credit, but that is better than nothing.

Oops. My bad. I just read the original message again. I originally thought he had recieved an email from Colorado Cyclist about the new price. He might have had a chance then, but this may be a different story. I guess I should read the message a little more closely next time.

Colorado Cyclist is not known for their "great deals." However, I bought a Tommasini bike from them last year and they discounted it two months later as a post season clearance and they gave me a $200 credit when I called them - no hassle either. Great company. I buy from them even when I could catch a better deal elsewhere. They're in it for the the relationship as much as the profit.
Coulda been worse ...bianchi boy

I bought a new Gios last month from Excelsports, and they just put the frame on sale for $100 less than I paid 30 days ago.

A co-worker who reads this forum just corrected me: the pump was reduced not to $39.99, but to $34.98. Less dollar difference than yours, but much greater percentage reduction. Sob.
