Has anyone seen or heard anything about Litespeed replacing the seatstays on next years Ultimate with Carbon Fiber?
They need a gimick because their overpriced stuff doesn't sell.ScratchNSniff

I think you would be crazy to buy a LS at full price. They ALWAYS go for deep discount at the end of the year since they seem to make some insignificant change or other that makes the previous year's model "obsolete"
Ya, nobody else does that? Can you say "B-stay" (nm)J.S.

how many years had the c-40 been unchanged before the b-stay came around? i'd say it has been one of the most enduring designs in the bike industry.

Would be just like a Pinarello Prince/Opera or a Seven Odonata...

I agree, why is it that whenLazyrider

Litespeed does anything new, it is a gimmick and a marketing trick, but when Pinarello and Seven put carbon stays, they are the "best" bikes on the road. What is with the bugs up people's asses with Litespeed? I don't get it. People criticize them but not their products anyway. Few people say that the Vortex or the the Classic or Palmares are junk, they say Litespeed is a marketing machine. I would live to try a Pianarello Opera or any high end bike for that matter. Is the carbon seat stay gimmicky. ABSOLUTELY and they are guilty as well but because Pianarello's are more rare, people covet them. Trust me if all the yuppies start buying Pinarellos, people will criticize them as well. how could you criticize any quality bike which Litespeed is. Not one of you would decline a Litespeed if you won one in a contest. Or would you because you feel so strongly about their marketing strategies. Please don't make me laugh, you would be grateful to have one. Stop it already with the Litepseed bashing you sound like idiots
Litespeed's are fun to bashVaMootsman
Jul 9, 2001 6:46 PM
...because they are so easy to bash. They are THE single overated bike on the planet. Take your 'Macalu' and go away.
Yeah, and they are ugly to boot.Bike Molester
Jul 9, 2001 9:37 PM
No personality. Boring. The Chevy Cavalier of road bikes. They don't rust - so who rides their high end road bike in the rain anyway? I have two spares for that.

At least a Macalu has a reasonable price tag.
Why do you guys bash Litespeeds for theirLazyrider
Jul 9, 2001 10:20 PM
price when there are so many aluminum and steel bikes that cost nearly the same amount of money and are far less cheaper metals and much much less expensive to work with and weld??? Colnago Materlight then is way overpriced as is every high end aluminum frame for that matter. Titanium's expense is in the production. Yes Litespeed's are expensive but so are Serotta Ti and Seven. How many of you would turn down a Vortex or a Palmares if you were given one free???? Would you stand on your half ass pricniples and refuse it. NOOOOOOOOOOOO FFFFFFFFFFFFINGGG WAY. You would be riding and bragging that you had one so stop lying just as I would if I received and C40. Give me any Litespeed or Colnago Pinarello, Serotta etc I love all bikes. How could you idiots have a hatered for a bike? please explain.
If I was given a Vortex I would trade for something I like.Bike Molester

You would appear to be the idiot. No one ever said that there were not other over-rated frames. It is not only about price. Who said they hated Litespeed? You are obviously insecure about your frameset.

Some Litespeeds are not overrated. One of them is the Macalu.
Why do you guys bash Litespeeds for theirLarry Meade
Jul 10, 2001 4:35 AM
Lazy,
You have to learn to ignore them. If you ride a Litespeed you love it. If you don't ride one, you love to bash them. That's life and I learned to just let it roll off. It's always the same bunch, some of whom claim to know everything there is to know about bicycles. One such "expert" was bashing Litespeed for using an insert on their seat tubes (which they no longer do). Seven advertises this as a feature of their frame. Go figure. Just ride your bike secure in the fact that it does exactly what you ask of it and blow off the so-called "experts".

is that you are so pretentious and pompous that you assume to know what other people would and wouldn't do. If I was given a Litespud for free, NOOOOOOOOOOOO FFFFFFFFFFFFINGGG WAY would I ride it. I would find some sucker (like you) and sell it and get something that I wanted. NOOOOOOOOOOOO FFFFFFFFFFFFINGGG WAY would I brag about it. As someone else said, take your 'Macalu' and go away.
Ok yoodoofus, what is a better frame than a Litespeed, and why?Largo
Jul 10, 2001 8:30 AM
Here is your chance to either look good, or look like an idiot.
Pick your fav frame, and list why its better than a Lietspeed (metallurgically speaking, design, etc..)
And no, i don't ride a Litespeed.

Yeah, like I need to- or even care about- justifying my preferences to you.
As i thought. Thanks for proving me right.Largo

If you are going to take a stand, be prepared to back it up rationally.

I proved you right... yeah sure, Lardo.

Always easier to resort to profanities and insults when rational thought eludes you.
BTW, why are youadoofus?
Naw, you crack me up!!yooarethedoofus
Jul 10, 2001 11:06 AM
That's right not rational! Thanks for proving my point. There is not always a rational answer- at least not one that you would find suitable. As often is the case, bikes (or any other hobby for that matter) are about passion. If it were strictly metallurgy and engineering then there WOULD be an outright "best" bike for whatever category riding was your pleasure. And we would all be riding it.

I only mentioned the truth... if someone were to give me a Litespeed I would sell it and get something else. And certainly wouldn't brag about it as Lazyrider claims. If you find that Litespud bashing, that's your problem, especially since I never mentioned anything about the quality of the bikes. And your logic that I prove your point is illogical... I would say idiotic, but then you would whine that I took the low road.

I will say (write) again, I find no reason why I need to justify any of my preferences to you. Why you run to defend someone that claims to know what others would think and do is beyond me.
Fellas, just agree to disagree and move on, okay? (nm)RhodyRider

Jul 10, 2001 7:08 AM
Hey boneheads, I didn't want your opinion on litespeed as a company or how overrated you think the bikes are. I just asked a simple question about emerging technology. However, thanks to those who defended Litespeed, regardless of the yuppie factor, they are among the best bikes in the world.
That's fine. Believe what you want....VaMootsman

there is not a steel, aluminum, or Carbon Fiber bike out there that has the durability that a ti bike has. Lets also not forget the facts that several of the greats have ridden or endorsed Litespeed and their bikes. Merckx - His ti bikes are still made by LS, when LeMond had a ti bike it was made by LS and lance's 1st tour was won on a LS. So belive what you want. As a caveat I currently ride a steel Merckx with Campy...
Yes, Litespeed is good. Almost as good as DouglasBike Molester
