Cat went pee in my helmet!!!ALLEN

My cat went pee in my helmet...yuk! What is the best way to clean a helmet?, with a wet rag?

Another Question...Did Phil Ligget ever race?

BTW, I got chased by a pitbull this morning; I didn't know they could run 30 mph. It was a lot of fun! (but a little scary).

is a spray that heps neutralize odors. Try cleaning the helmet and pads in warm water and mild soap, like dishwashing soap, then follow the directions on the Febreze.

Yes, Phil was a racer.

Yes, It's fun and ENERGIZING to race dogs. I had a German Shepherd take off after me one night. He kept right up until I blew up and had to back off, then he trotted away victorious. Guess he just wanted to show me who was faster.
good luck...ColnagoFE

Just use Simple Green, or other citrus-based cleaner - the citrus smell will cover any 'pee' smell. If the sizing pads got soaked, you can always replace those - your LBS always has those in a box somewhere.

Maybe next time you carry the cat with you and have the cat pee on the pit bull???

Yes, Mr. Ligget did race - not as much as Mr. Sherwen, but he did have his time on the road.
I wish I had thought of that!mike mcmahon

I posted here recently about my run-in with an angry pit bull. I'm not a cat fan, but I will consider carrying a cat full of pee with me in the future to ward off angry mongrels. Thanks, rollo.

I was wonder: what happens if a dog starts chasing me and I am going uphill?

In this case I might turn to race down the hill...but what happens if the hill is just a valley?

I know for me I consistently clean the pads in my helmet with dishsoap...but I would definately spray down the helmet with Febreeze or something of the sort.

I guess I should remember to edit my replies..."I was wonder" should be "I always wonder".

Go to a pet store and get "Nature's Miracle". It's a product that contains enzymes that neutralize urine odors. It's expensive but it works.
Sounds like a good excuse for an new helmet!! nmLazy

Your LATE cat went pee in your helmet? If I can paraphrase Groucho,"How he got in my helmet I'll never know."

Brings up a whole new subject: Are more Campy people cat lovers and Shimano people dog lovers? Personally I ride Shimano and own a dog.
I ride Campy and have a strong dislike of cats (nm)mike mcmahon

I like cats and dogs & I ride Shimano, (but I would rather have Campy). My cat actually behaves more like a dog than a cat, it's really weird.

Thanks everyone for the tips!

I ride Shimano and wish I rode Campy! I love dogs and barely tolerate cats!
Pit Bull? . . , that's when I go pee in my shorts @ 30.1 mph (nm)12x23

Ouch!...I mean ewww! You can try the fabreze, but I haven't had the best of luck with it. However, I have some insightful suggestions:
1) NEVER, EVER tell your riding buds about this incident; you'll be "marked" for life (although they may think that the smell is just your own odor);
2) Step in some doggie poo before you ride...maybe you won't notice the helmet thing;
3) Ride a lot faster...A LOT FASTER;
4) Get a new helmet, or forever be known as "Smellin' Allen";
5) Tell everyone you got peed on by Lance Armstrong as you were holding his bike during an intense training ride while he whizzed!

Godspeed my friend...

Yet another fine example of the internet turning OFF someones brain. His cat pissed in his helmet and he asks the whole world how to clean it up. For gods sake.
A. kick the cat
B. soap and water comes to mind. If that fails get a new helmet.

Please keep us posted on the results.

I thought it was a pretty funny & entertaining post.
& it's not the whole world just this board.

I'm getting sick of all the "what size bike?" topics.

If you think this topic is a waste of time, why did you respond?

Have a nice day.
