|I have been having pain in the ball foot of my ever since I started doing longer rides (5+ hours). I have Carnac Elipse shoes with superfeet insoles and speedplay pedals. None of these have ever given me problems before. I have messed around a bit with tightening my shoes, but that makes my feet go numb. does anyone have any suggestions?|

|I suffered for several hours of the Terrible Two in '99 with foot pain until a teacher/cyclist buddy instructed me STERNLY to loosen my shoes. I'd told her that they weren't tight, but, low and behold, when I finally heeded her instructions the pain vanished IMMEDIATELY!
BTW, I've ridden a LOT and considered myself pretty knowlewdgeable, but we can all learn if we relax once in a while.

|I use Look cleats and pedals and I had the same problem you had but with my left foot only. A visit to the podiatrist gave me a name to the pain - Morton's Neuroma (look it up on the web). A temporary fix was a home-made orthotic. I use Johnson & Johnson's First Aid waterproof tape. I lay down three or more strips of tape, side by side and three deep across the ball of my foot. Most of the time this helps. I repositioned my cleats to move my feet forward, but just slightly. I went on a 5 1/2 hour ride today and my left foot hasn't felt this good after a long ride.
Good luck. If all else fails see the foot doc.
