Motobecane and www.bikesdirect.comBig_Stu

I've been looking for larger framed road bikes locally and have found the local shops lacking. I searched the web and found this and the Motobecane Le Champion they have for sale seems like an good deal at $1095.00.
My question is does anyone have experience with current Motobecane bikes? I know they used to make good ones, but I am not so sure about currently. How are they keeping the costs down on an Ultegra spec'd bike?

And lastly has anyone here dealt with the online merchant and have any comments on them?

Thanks in advance

I don't have any experience with, I went and looked at their website and can see how they keep the price down. The new Moto's seem to be all aluminum frames without much tube shape manipulation, which could provide a harsh ride. Also looks like they keep the price down by using a quill instead of the newer threadless headset, plus the generic wheelsets, seatpost and the small platform pedals. All of which are irrelevant if the ride suits you.

I bought a Motobecane from bikesdirect for my wife a couple of years ago. It's a nice bike for the money. As someone else noted, they spec some cheap or no-name stuff on the lesser components to keep the price down while using quality stuff elsewhere in the drivetrain.
