Cinelli or Schwinn(5 posts)

Cinelli or SchwinnBroom Wagon

I'm considering purchasing either a Cinelli Unica or the Schwinn Fastback Limited. Both frames are of the sloping top tube compact design variety. The frame measurements are pretty close.

Do you have an opinion on either in terms of build quality, ride, durability, etc? I heard that there may be warranty issues with Cinelli frames but have no firsthand experience nor anything to substantiate the claim.

Any information and opinions on either frame would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If the prices were comparable, which one would you take??

They are both good frames, just because one has an Italian name doesn't make it better. By the way a ZO6 Corvette will smoke almost all Ferrari's made at about 1/10 the cost.

I checked the specs at the manufacturers web sites, and the schwinn built with dura-ace would likely cost a great deal more than a cinelli built with veloce. schwinn's msrp for the fastback limited is $3,700. there was no price shown for the cinelli, but i wouldn't pay more than $1,500 or so for a bike wearing a veloce group. my lbs is a schwinn dealer and i had a look at a fastback pro he had in his inventory. nice bike, 18 pounds built with ultegra and velomax wheels for $1,850.

I have a Schwinn Fastback Limited. The bike flies. That being said I just can not get comfortable on it, guess I just like my old Klein to much.I am thinking of selling it to buy something more traditional.Good Luck
