New wheels for Lance??Elefantino

Graham Watson says Lance has something new. Looks to me like he's dumped the Krysiums for Cosmics. Go to and see if I'm right.

Lance has used the Cosmics a lot in the past in flat races.
They're probably neither.....YoungRcR

Cosmics are porkers.
You might be thinking of Cosmos. nmGroucho Marx

I don't think GW is refering to the wheels, Lance has used Cosmics before, look very closely at the bike. It looks like a new paint job but I think Trek has something new under that paint, it's tour time, time to roll out the new stuff.
I give up. New bar tape? Different socks?Hank

Wait a second...look really really closely at those water bottle cages...

Honestly, I can't see anything different. Looks like the same old same old to me.

i have a rolf vector pro that was used by the usps team for evaluation and testing but never raced on. it is an older silver item and is stamped on the hub flange "USPS - 05". i lied a little as im not sure if lance actually used this wheel but the usps is lance as far as im concerned.

i have verified it and it rides well although i dont think they ever used them in anger. if anyone has a source to an image or reference featuring this i would appreciate it.

and, no, its not for sale. although i would swap it for any cippolini item (please dont laugh).

as far as lance using cosmic's why would he as there are better wheels available for someone of his importance.

I will swap you a 1998 LAF LIMITED PELOTON PROJECT RIDE JERSEY autographed by Lance Armstrong, Greg Lemond, Miguel Indurain and Shaun Kelly.
He's talking about his riding not ride...Bruno S

It seems that he is talking about his riding style or performace not the bike. The bike looks the same as always. He has been using those heavy (and expensive) Cosmics all year. By this time last yeat Trek had big ads about the new mountain and TT bikes. If there would be something new it would be out already.
I think he means the bike.Lazy

The caption under the second photo says "...notice anything different about what he's riding? More on that soon..."

That, to me, says that there's something different about his bike.
OK. Then...Bruno S

Me too.Lazy

I was looking to see if Shimano made him ride a DA triple, but it doesn't look like it. Everything else looked normal to me.

the wheels say cosmics so id say that is a good bet...and the frame is deffinatly different cosmeticly, those decals are different...could be the same frame with new decals, looks better anyway..

Definitely something new...I ride the 5900 superlight - it has a dark silver finish with a straight blade fork that Klein uses for their bikes. This bike also has different decals than my 5900 or the white 5500 postal bike as noted in another post.

I'll guess and say Trek matched the 110 carbon from the 5900 and the Icon Fork from the 5500 to add to their current line up. Look for Lance and the boys to ride this one on the flats, but I'll bet he gets back on the 5900 for the mountains.

Dang, now I may have to buy a new bike to stay current...It's all about marketing.
New bike, check the TREK website. NMJ.S.

Tour de France on the right side of the home page. A smaller window opens with a section about the new 2001 bikes for the Tour but it says "comming soon" and there is no more info.

Looking at the new pics - Lance is on a 5900 (you can tell by the fork) - notice there is no STI shifter for the crank - same set up as last year's tour. George is on a 5500, again you can tell by the fork. Looks like same bike, different color schemes. New helmets from Giro may be forthcoming...
