Ultegra 8 speed bar end shifters with 105 7 speed cog?Underdog

Someone gave me a frame with 105 drive train system. It's older so it's only a 7 speed rear system. Can I use my Ultegra 8 speed bar end shifters with this 7 speed cog?

Thanks...

Should work fine, just make sure the limit screws are adjusted properly.

The 8 speed shifter should work fine (like the first poster said, make sure that you adjust the derailleur set screws to limit travel to match your set up -- you don't want to sent the derraileur into the rear spokes!). The spacing between the cogs is a wee bit different, but probably not enough to notice. If the indexing on the shifter doesn't match up to your liking, set it on "friction" and do it the old fashioned way -- by ear!
