I've been using a Trek helmet for a while now, it's the first one i've ever had. i can only get the helmet to be comfortable forehead to the back of my head. there is no adjustment for width. when i was buying helmet, LBS only had Trek, Specialized, Giro and Bell, and the Trek was the least uncomfortable one.

so is there someone here who also been cursed with a WIDE head? what helmet do you wear?

I'm using a Giro helmet. I took out the side pads and left the front and back in place. It works for me. Before you buy a new helmet, try removing the side pads. They are usually held in place with velcro.

I've got the same issue with helmets. I've got a Giro Boreas (S/M)where I've removed the side pads and placed thicker pads on the front. I wouldn't mind removing the terry cloth straps that go from the side to the plastic retaining mechanism in the back but then, the helmet wouldn't stay on. I have had good luck with Specialized helmets but that was an old Sub-6 model.
