any new Dura Ace rumors out there?Hank

I seem to recall that about 6 months ago a few in-the-know people noted that it would be 2+ years before there was an all new DA group. Just wondering if there is any new info floating around out there. Could Shimano be secretly preparing for a surprise for the shows in the fall?

I recently spoke to someone who was in a position to know about any big changes in the Shimano line-up and all he said was that the "big news" is the Dura-Ace triple. FWIW.

this is basically a bolt-on affair and not really anything redesigned. That said...D/A is a racing group and if you really need a triple do you need D/A?

If you ignore the redesigned rear derailleur with larger pulleys and a slightly longer cage, redesigned front derailleur, bottom bracket, left shifter and inner chainring, the drivetrain remains unchanged from previous models....;-)

Look for new D/A Pro grouppo, fall 2001. Includes pre-drilled crank (a la Merckx), 10-25 straight block cassette (that's right, 16 speed!!), optional computer w/ personal hydration-meter (you pee in a cup), plus stickers that say Shimano in all the right places!! Plus it's nearly four and a half grams lighter than the '97 group!

Now I'll know what to do with that extra $4K I have laying around, just begging to be spent!

Not dura ace specific, just shimano. I read in Cycling Weekly in may that the next thing you can expect is a composite rim. CW flew a rep back to shimano for an article. Shimano said no chance of 10 speed and only carbon fiber on rims. Electronic gears was a big maybe. For the future shimano said they wanted frame makers to make bigger bottom brackets, specific brazings and internal cable routings. (may 12 cycling weekly)
