I am looking at buying a bike over the classifieds on this web page. Can someone give me some tips on buying over the web as far as being able to tell if the product is what they say it is, payment, shipping, verifiying serial number (not stolen) etc. If anyone has any idea please let me know. Thanks

Use an escrow service. This is the only way you get to look at the bike and verify condition before the funds are released to the seller. There are all kinds of details that can be negotiated with this type of service, which protects both buyer and seller. Also emphasise proper packing and insurance. I have bought many frames from the classifieds and all were exactly as advertized and well packed and shipped by UPS.I have never used an escrow service for my buying, but did at the request of a buyer of one of my frames. He was picky, worrying, first time buyer, but was happy with the transaction.
