Macintosh-compatible HRMsNeedSpeed

Fellow roadies I need your help: I am looking to buy a heart rate monitor with all the bells and whistles to take my training to another level. I've looked at some of the new (oft delayed) Polar S-series and talked to the staff at three LBSs. My problem is this: does anyone out there know of a HRM that can download data into an Apple Macintosh CPU (G3 PowerBook)? OR, does anyone know of a company that makes adaptive software for HRMs like the Polar series to make them compatible with Macs? Every HRM I've seen so far is only PC/Windows compatible. Thanks.

Well the majority of the world uses PC's. Get over it and lose your MAC.

don't say anything at all. The person asked a legitimate question and there is no reason to be rude.

This place appears to have Mac compatible software for Polar monitors.

Thanks for the link! I'd been looking high and low to no avail. I couldn't even find a Consumer Reports-style book/magazine that rates HRMs. I appreciate your help.

And oh, to the nimrod who told me to ditch my Mac: the OTHER inhabitants of the world actually use our brains. Try ditching the ignorance and using yours!

Fellow cyclists and MacUsers, I have an additional update:

I emailed CatEye about any Mac-compatible software with their MSC-3Dx and MSC-2Dx HRMs and was promptly e-mailed back in a couple of hours (Wed. night). There is a Mac OS version of their downloadable HRM data program called e-Train Data View. It allows you to track your training program in MS Excel. Obviously, beside the HRM, you also need to buy the Cyclocomputer/Heart Rate Monitor PC Interface.

The software link is:

I'll call Polar (again) later today to double-check with them about Mac-compatibility. The link yodelboy provided is a company that sells the Polar Interface Plus and says it is Mac-compatible, but neither Polar's own web-site nor mentions the Interface is Mac-compatible. Still checking on that one. Will post again after speaking w/ Polar directly. Thanks again to all who helped.

Okay, final post on the subject. I just talked to 2 LBSs and a Polar Customer Service Rep. I have been assured that Polar does NOT make Macintosh-compatible HRMS. Cateye does, so that's what I'm gonna go with. I know that some have complained about the effect power lines and the like have on Cateye HRMs, but those same problems have also been raised concerning Polar.

Thanks to all who have helped.
