Help a newbie out. Wanna buy a bike.Wil

I'm a mountainbiker and I don't know too much about roadbiking except that it looks cool and I want to do it. I'm looking to buy a bike to hit the roads with. Some that caught my eye were the Specialized Allez A1, the Trek 2000, and the Giant OCR 1. Primarily because they all hover around the $1000 range. I don't plan to race, but ride for recreation. Am I cheating myself by getting a bike at his price? Or should I aim a little higher. Anybody out there have any bikes in mind that they would recommend for a newbie like me who will be riding a lot? Thanks in advance. -Wil

I would aim a little higher. Save a little more money and get a Trek with atleast shimano 105 components. I have a Trek with Sora components, and they constantly need adjusting. I recommend the Trek 2200, check it out at trekbikes.com. Good luck!
