A bad knee...ALLEN
Jun 8, 2001 12:10 AM
I'm an ex-runner who had to stop running because of a bad left knee,(that's how I got into cycling). My jackass doctor didn't even tell me what was wrong with it. Would cycling do anything for a bad knee...(make worse , better, or nothing at all)? Anything at all would help! You guys are probably smarter than that damn doc.

it depends on what is wrong with your knee. the mechanical forces of cycling are much less than running, but can still affect your knee negatively. i was diagnosed years ago with chondromalacia patella and i am having problems right now with riding. i would consult a doctor, do some research and make an educated decision. you only have 2 knees and you need them both to cycle. good luck.
