|Wife chaperoned my 7 year olds' school trip today and passed the LBS along the way. My 7 year old was heard to say, "My dad makes too big a deal about his bike. He's always going there to buy stuff. It should be simple; put on your helmet, get on your bike, ride and enjoy." I guess what he says is true and captures the essence of what cycling is about and which I sometimes foolishly forget.|

|I was obsessed with my BMX bike (Mongoose) and lusting after better ones (Redlines and PK Rippers) by age 10.|

|Sounds like the boy picked up on something mom has said, maybe many times?
Who says it must be simple? For goodness' sake, in Italy there is a church dedicated to cycling, and a patron saint of cycling. It's a planetary industry. Part of the beauty of it is that it can be anything you want it to be -- a simple pasttime, or a professional career, or anything in between. No need to be the same to everyone.

|The point seems to be "It's all about riding," something I do well to remind myself once in a while.|| |
