Is anyone familiar with the Celo Europa Colnagos? I know that they were the house brand for a California dealer but have been unable to find any info on the frames or bikes. I have a Super Celo from the mid 80's with the crimped top and down tubes and would like to know what level of Columbus tubing it is made from and whether they are considered a quality product. Any info will be appreciated.

I can't give you any specific information on the bikes. However, Celo Euoropa and its owner Marcel Calbourn have been mainstays in So. Cal for a long time. Marcel has a loyal following of people who buy from nobody from him. I've never heard a bad word about Marcel, but I don't know anything personally about who builds his bikes or his connection with Colnago.

Celo Europa is Marcel Calborn's marque. His shop is called bicisport and is located in Laguna Hills, California. It is on the corner of La Paz and Moulton Parkway. His bikes have variously held the monikers Celo Europa and Calborn. Connie Paraskeiven (Sp?) won a number of world championships on Calborns in the mid-80s. www.celoeuropa.com is the website.

I am currently riding a handbuilt in CA Celo Europa frame. It is different from the colnago built Celos you are asking about. I purchased the bike used in perfect condition--it is lugged Reynolds 853 and rides great. The build quality is also excellent. You can e-mail the builder at ciciocelo@email.msn.com if you have more questions. Sheldon Brown mentions the Celo Colnagos briefly on his encyclopedia of bike makers.
