How to ignore certain posters...(7 posts)

How to ignore certain posters...Lizard
Jun 1, 2001 5:58 AM
Obviously there a few posters (they know who they are) who aren't mature enough to participate in discussing the joys, problems, technicalities of bike riding. Several of them allege that they are mountain bikers. I really wonder. The mountain bikers I know (without exception) are great people just like the "roadies" here, their primary goal being RIDE, RIDE, RIDE. It's quite sad.

Anyway, I can't find an "ignore this user" button on the board. Is there a way to get rid of the unnecessary *clutter*? I know they change their identities often, so the process could be a lesson in futility. It's worth a try, anyway.

Thanks so much.

Just ignore them and let the post drop to the bottom. These people are just starving for attention, Ignore them and they will go away

To see what might be going on. Saw a direct link to this forum. Maybe if the webmaster eliminated that link, some of the less mentally inclined wouldn't know how to get over here.

the way to get that is to get government involved. This internet freedom stuff is not really any good. We need protection from things we don't like or don't agree with. The government at the highest level should make laws regulating the internet and what is posted where.

first of all its really not that bad, its only a few compared to the amount of folks on here..second, the site is already regulated by someone who runs the site...third, what do you think should be regulated that isnt already...fourth, just because you may not like it or "agree" with it doesnt seem like a good enough reason to inforce a law against it, does it

We will all have that chip some day. So many carry cell phones already, so the fact that communicators being required by law will not bother quite a few of this worlds people. Freedom!
Ignore this User functionmike mcmahon

This function, which I believe is offered on most Yahoo boards, seems to work better on forums where "threads" are not started. For example, Yahoo finance boards are just a series of posts that are not connected by a common thread. The Ignore this User function allows you to skip over someone you've found to be offensive, inappropriate, or just plain stupid. However, it seems like it would probably be more difficult to skip over posts that appear in the middle of a thread started by another poster, as is the case on this board. However, common sense is a good indication. This morning, I quickly larned to skip everything written by "Hoochie Mama." I'm still struggling with my pledge to attempt to refrain from responding to obvious flame baiters. Fortunately Blue Bayou is around to remind me when I'm backsliding. One day at a time.
