2000 Bianchi XL EV2 vs CAAD4(6 posts)

2000 Bianchi XL EV2 vs CAAD4CrazyMan
May 28, 2001 8:41 AM
After looking at tons of bikes, and riding at least 6, I am down to these two in my bike search. I have ridden the C'dale, but can't ride the Bianchi. I can save a bit of money on the Cannondale, but that isn't a key factor. I've heard the 58cm CAAD4 is stiffer, while the 59cm XL EV2 will be lighter, more compliant, but has a bit of flex in the bottom bracket. By the way, I'm, 6'1'' and weigh 160 lbs, so will flex even be an issue. I'll be doing mostly sub 50 mile rides, and the occasional triathlon, and I ride pretty hard. Any and all advice will help as I have to make my decision soon.

consider a principia as well.--if super-light aluminum is what you want, they do it as well as anybody.

although i totally despise cannondale, their customer service is far superior to that of bianchi usa's. and factory-backed customer service is a definite consideration when buying a super-light aluminum bike, even if you only weigh 160lbs. for quick warranty alone i'd pick cannondale over bianchi if i wanted an aluminum road bike.

Thanks, though it is a nice bike, I've found great deals, and have kind of narrowed it down to these two.

cannondale might last longer
those thin Bianchi tubes may be light, but may also break down over time...i'm not sure what Bianchi's warranty is.
