Just got done watching Zanini take stage 7. Awesome day for this hap hap happy channel surfing s.o.b. I decided to go "spread-eagle" "whole-hog" and got the digital package w/ cable modem hookup. The feed on Eurosport.com is awesome. They have full screen interviews w/ all the favorites and captioned to boot. I've gone from having oocasional magazines and videos to fully plugged-in cycling sports fan. Hey there is hope. Keep hope alive! Keep hope alive!

You lucky SOB! I had OLN in '96-97 and saw some occasional road coverage. However, it sounds like OLN has really increased the scope of its road coverage over the past few years. My cable company has repsectfully declined my request to add OLN to its line-up. I'm probably the only one who has made it. Enjoy your wealth of viewing opportunities.

P.S. In addition to the road racing, is OLN still showing a lot of footage of guys in orange and white Tennessee hats fishin' for bass?

Another happy cycling S.O.B. with OLN!

I always found the eclecticism of OLN to be amusing and entertaining. You go from watching "tres chic" Euro roadies or downhill skiers to watching a bunch of guys with beer guts stringing flies or taking down deer with only a commercial in between.

Well, OLN does stand for Outdoor Life Network. Even if I don't like their choice of clothing attire (remember bicycling shorts and jerseys with funny shoes must be just as hilarious to them) and good ol boy accents and jargon, I can still enjoy the scenery. I watched a show, Hunting with Hank, filmed in Alaska - the scenery was spectacular. But yes, I love watching the Giro and look forward to the TDF.

Yes, OLN followed the Giro w/ a 30 minute kayak segment and then right into two hrs (or thereabout)of fishing. Nice to know some things do not change, eh?

The piece of crap cable provider in my area just dropped OLN. Me thinks I need a mini-dish.

Hey Mike!

I work for a privately owned Radio Shack here in Williamsburg, VA and we sell Direct TV single systems with installation for $69.00 occasionally Circuit City has it for $49.99 installed (We math their prices) you have to go with a least the $21.99 package plus the $10 sports package to get OLN. I can not use Direct TV at my house, too many tree's I pay $35.98 for monthly cable which includes OLN.

Cycling yours,

I hope I can find a similar deal here on the west coast. Actually the company I work for was supposed to do some sort of cross-marketing deal with DirecTV that would have given us a pretty good employee deal, but it never came through. I'll check the local RS or Circuit City. Thanks for the "insider" info.

Dish Network has/had a $199 special. Basically, as long as you commited to $40/month TV coverage, you got a credit of %199 towards any receiver/dish/installation.

http://www.directcabletv.net Apparantly, free dish + basic (whatever that means) installation. Must contract for 1 yr @ at least $39.99/month (OLN included in package for $39.99) + movies for other family members. Several dishes to choose from. I haven't called yet, but sounds like a good deal.
Yes, I also pay $100 a month for digital cable/cable modem...Bruno S

but it is worth it. On the other hand thats $1200 a year. I could buy a new record/dura-ace group with that money every year.

I enjoy the coverage also.... but the commercials are very annoying. Get a tape or digital recorder and you will REALLLLY be a happy camper.
