My bike has Campy Veloce 8-speed shifers and ders, but i'm wanting to upgrade to a 9-speed cassette to get some easier gears (call me a wuss). Can i use the 8 speed equipment and just not use the smallest cog on the cassette?

thanks

No. The 9 speed cogs have a diffrent spline pattern (where it slips over the freehub body). They are not compatible.

email any questions, he will answer within a day or two, but the information can be found on his site. he does give great service, and seems to specialize in Campagnolo.

You know there are 8 speed 13x26 cassettes. If you're running the usual 39 tooth chainring upfront a 26 in the rear is a 40.5 " gear which should get you through anything, but you didn't say what you currently have or are looking for. None-the-less 13x26 cassettes are available at the aforementioned Branford and also at Harris Cyclery. At about $50,this would be a lot less than a drivetrain re-do.
