Anybody know what stations in the U.S. will be covering the tour? I don't have OLN, so i am hoping that another channel will be providing good coverage.

Thanks,
Dave

Typically ESPN provides daily coverage of the Tour commentated by Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwyn and the college basketball goon (I cannot remember his name) Thankfully he does not say too much.

Is this true? I understood that OLN outbid ESPN?ABC for the U.S. rights. I think its only on OLN. Hope I'm wrong.

As far as I know only OLN will be covering it. On a positive note it sounds like OLN Canada may be carring the Tour coverage. I wonder what the fisher men are going to do :D?
Last year's web coverage not too bad...John R.

I even got a radio feed from Eurosport over the web but the connection was a little unreliable. Maybe it will get better this year.

Anyway, a few sites had minute by minute updates along with stage profiles etc. Actually, I found this coverage much more interesting than the ESPN coverage except you don't get to SEE it.

I switched from our local cable company (Comcast) to Direct TV because the cable company dropped OLN.

I did. I dropped cable for Dish. Reception is better with Dish than cable, less expensive, more channel coverage, and the only way to get OLN here in HI. I connected the day the Giro started. Nice to see, but I hope their feed greatly improves for TDF over the Giro - lots of signal break up. Phil, et. al., blame it on the trees blocking their uplink, but there was still break up yesterday on a relatively flat and treeless course. Still great to have!
Not on ESPN. Thankfully.mr_spin

I think any rumours about some other network showing highlights are not true.

OLN has the exclusive rights, along with master commentators Phil and Paul, and none of those ESPN idiots. I can't see OLN cannibalizing it's own coverage so some other network can show highlights. I think there are four showings a day. The first one is a LIVE feed, which is very cool. After that, an edited version repeats several times during the day. Unlike ESPN, the editing is to include anything important that happened before or after they went live, since the live feed is only for the last two hours or so of the race.

I watch the Giro every morning, and even though the Italian uplink is crappy sometimes, it's still great to watch live. I expect the tour will be even better.

Get OLN!!! If you love cycling, you'll be glad you did.

I think that the Tour is only going to be on OLN. First I was pissed, because I only had the Select Choice Package (cheapest one with DirecTV...I was expecting the Tour to be on ESPN), which means paying an extra $10/month to get the Sports Pack. But it sounds like the coverage is going to be pretty good this year (live, plus multiple re-runs). I am watching the Giro and it is pretty well done. I only wish that the commentators would be there because it would be really different (interviews and other specials). Maybe they will do it for the Tour. But anyway 2 hours of live coverage is great, enven if half of it is going to be commercials!

Have good rides!
However you do it, GET OLN!Ian

I am soooo thankful for that station. Their coverage is so much better than ESPN and compared to ABC, well, ABC just downright sucked.

Live in the morning, then replayed throughout the day. I'm loving the Giro broadcast so far.

Switch cable companies, get a dish, whatever, if you like cycling, you need OLN.
oln will cover it every day whole telecast but delayedwes_london

im pretty sure that oln will cover each day of the tour and might i say that im pretty happy about that. cant say ill miss the fishing, hunting, sport diving etc. im pretty lucky in fact to have it offered and will make use of it. there is a few specials which i am looking forward to between now and the race start. historical footage, great riders, the great teams and battles. im salivating.
