the truth about light wheelsets.rimmy

All these new lightweight wheelsets are not really lighter in the right places. The weight losses are coming from hubs and spokes, not the hoop. Hoops have been around 420-440 grams for a loong time! Although these weight reductions help, they don't help very much more than losing weight off something like the frame or seat. Less spokes do help in the aero dept. though. The only real losses I've seen seem to be in the tubular rim area. I saw one last night that weighed 280! Not bad. Now this would really be noticeable.

Now, I know this may be deep for you, it does rotate but it isnt far enough away from the axle to truly have an effect like a tire, tube, or rim would. Think hard.

Not trying to be rude, just answering your smart alec question since rimmy? isnt around to answer it for you.
