|I have heard it is possible to use Shimano splined BB and crankset (9 speed) with Campy Record (10 speed) drivetrain. Is it true? Does one need to replace the chain rings? Will Campy Record 10 sp work with an FSA carbon crank/chain rings designed for Shimano splined BB?
Also, which crankset/BB interface is stiffer: the tapered Campy Record or Shimano splined?

|You can use the Shimano BB and crankset with a Campagnolo drivetrain, but I wouldn't reccomend it. While it will function, it is less than optimal and the drivetrain won't be as smooth and trouble free as if you had stuck with one gruppo or the other. I would stick with either all Campy or all Shimano.
As for your other question, a splined bottom bracket and crankset will be stiffer than a traditional tapered BB and crankset setup. The advantage goes to Shimano over Campy there.

|Splined BB's will someday be in the dustbin along with other great bike improvements like biopace chainrings. Remember them??
The B industry lives on this BS.

|I would say no in this case. Everything that I have read indicates that a splined BB is stiffer. I think we'll see Campy coming out with one soon.|| |
