I received the following email today from Giant concerning the TCR carbon fork problem. There have been several postings lately but this should clear up the speculations.

This email will further update you with regard to your recent inquiry about
carbon fiber forks on certain Giant bicycles.
We are working in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission
(CPSC) to further investigate the situation. Corrective action will be
announced by May 28th, 2001.
Giant Bicycle, Inc. ("Giant Bicycle") recently has received reports of
potential problems with carbon fiber forks used on certain 2001 model Giant
TCR Team, TCR 0, TCR 1, TCR 2 and OCR 1 bicycles and framesets. The reports
indicate that under certain circumstances the blades of these forks can
fracture or become separated from the fork crown. If this occurs, the rider
could lose control of the bicycle, resulting in possible injury. For this
reason, out of an abundance of caution, Giant Bicycle requests that you
immediately stop using these bicycles and framesets.
The potentially affected 2001 model Giant TCR Series and OCR 1 bicycles and
framesets were sold from September 2000 to the present.
If you have any questions, you may call Giant Bicycle, Inc. at 1-800-USGIANT
(874-4268). Further information about this matter will be issued shortly.
We regret any inconvenience this action may cause you and thank you for your
continued support.
