|what is the lightest pedal/cleat/shoe combination? to the best of my knowledge, speedlpay's X/1 are among the lightest pedals at 150 g/pair and shimano R212 (or 211 - old) are among the lightest shoes around at 500 g/ pair (size 40). But they don't work together. Carnac shoes, while very comfortable and durable, are much heavier (e.g. Quartz - 756g/ pair and Ellipse- 676 g/ pair) also, adapters and cleats for Speedplay weigh more than say, spd. anybody has an idea for the lightest combo that works?

|The speeedplay cleat fits into the recessed sole of SIDI shoes and places the foot very close to the center of the spindle. Supposedly this enhances pedaling efficiency. I certainly have noticed a smoother spin since changing to this combo, 2 years ago.
Are they the lightest? Close at least. My pair of (4 year old) 42.5 Genius 3's weigh 560 grams. The speedplay cleats add 100 grams per pair, for a total of 660.
