is the freehub on the rear wheel the same length? My question is i have an eight speed cassette in the rear, would i be able to upgrade to the 10 speed cassette without requiring a new hub? Thanks

Check out www.branfordbike.com for a complete explanation of conversions, what parts you need, etc. If there is a way to do what you want they will know how. Good luck !

At the minimum, you will need a new cassette body because the cog spline pattern is different for 9 & 10 speed. A new Chorus cassette body is $90. For another $25 you can get a new Chorus 10 hub which is completely redesigned and a lot lighter. I wouldn't spend the time and money trying to revive an old hub.

NO WAY to upgrade to 10 speed cassette with an 8 speed body. The hub body is to short and the spline patterns (8 vs. 10) are different.
