I will be flying into RAF Mildenhall in a few days and will have my bike with me. Anyone know how the riding is over there?

Road biking in England in generally great, especially if you are on the various back road lanes. Search the internet or go to the CTC website for cycling touring information. Another site is Sustrans which probably has some maps for their routes in England. Can't speak for the area that you are going to though. Better be prepared for rain.

The area around RAF Mildenhall is very flat. For weather, this is the right time of year. Just starting to warm up enough for shorts. Rain? Always a good possibility in England. If you are staying on base at RAF Mildenhall, you might have some trouble reaching nice roads to ride on as the roads around Mildenhall and Lakenheath are very busy two-lane highways with a lot of heavy, fast traffic on them. If you are staying in town, you'll probably have better luck finding some roads to ride on. No need to bring your climbing gears though.

P.S. While I haven't ridden around Mildenhall, I do have to drive there occasionally for flight physicals and other USAF admin stuff. I'm stationed about 120 miles north of Mildenhall (RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.)
Thanks for the info.BrianU

I will be there for a few days and will be staying on base. I guess I'll just have to see if I can find a way out away from the base.
