|North San Diego Wheel Builder Recommendations?||Lono|

|Can anyone recommend a good wheel builder in North San Diego County (Encinitas)? I have a pair of Chris Kings on Mavic CXP33s that need to be rebuilt.
I thought about Nytro but haven't heard any pros or cons about their service ability. Any other shops/builders that can build bomb-proof wheels?

|There's Blacksmith bicycle wheels on Santa Fe in the Rose Canyon area. Call first, though. I think the guy (Earl?) only goes in when he's ready to build. He's done a few wheels for me over the years, and they've all been good.|

|Felipe is probably the best mechanic you will find in San Diego. I and all the bike messengers have used him since 1989. He builds everything in that shop, and specializes in repairs and rebuilding. Last time I was in there he was building 20 wheels for Bike San Diego tour group.
I know it is downtown San Diego, but it is worth it.

|... I believe he's on Morena Blvd. You can see the shop from I-5, just east of Mt. Soledad, but its hard to get to. From Balboa, heading west to I-5, turn just before the RR bridge onto what looks like a driveway, go north past the Mountain Bike Warehouse maybe half a mile to a mile, and he's in a shop on the right. The shop is called something like Wheelsmith's or something of that kind. He was recommended to me by two LBS's, Black Mountain Cycles and Soul Cycles.|

|Blacksmith is on Santa Fe, which turns into the bike path to UCSD/La Jolla if you go farther north, and ends on Balboa (after passing MTB Warehouse) farther south.|
