|Has anyone done the Mountains of Misery Century coming up on 5/27?
10,000 ft of vertical climbs
Last 5 miles is a catagory 1 climb to the finish.
Best time last year was 5:18 (Must be an animal)
Advise on gearing, early pace, etc would be appreciated.

|If you can't find some 1st hand experience you could try to get some USGS maps and figure the % grade. Places like REI and local outdoor stores should have the large scale/small area charts (opps, getting all nautical again). 12-27 on a 39/53 should get you up most everything, but it all comes down to the defeinition of a cat. 1 climb. Anyone?|

It helps to have a t-1 at work for connection speed though.

|According to the elevation profile on the website, The last climb is 2300 ft in the last 5 miles with 1700 of this in the last 3 miles. At the end of a 103 mile ride after 7700 feet of previous climbing, I'm a little nervous about 39x27. Am I overreacting?|
