Is it possible to run Shimano cogs on a Campy freehub body (say, running them on a pair of old Shamals, both 9 speed)? What about the compatability of Campy cranks (00 or 01 vintage) with a Shimano drivetrain (assuming of course you are running a Campy bottom bracket)?

Campy cogs/hub bodies have a different spline pattern than Shimano. Won't work. Crank would probably work fine (or Shimano crank w/Campy rear end).

The cogs will not work. The cutouts on the cogs and the splines on the freehub bodies are different (Toyota parts don't work in Fords for the most part...). The Campy cranks MAY work on the spindle if it's the 4 sided style. BUT...the angle of the taper is different. So, you can jam it on, tighten the bejesus out of it...but....Toyota parts don't generally work in Fords.
