Foot Soreness(3 posts)

Foot SorenessFoot Sore

I have a set of ICON? clipless pedals that came with my new bike, after an hour of riding I am experiencing foot soreness on the ball of my feet. I have a wide foot and these pedals are narrow, is this the problem, do I need wider (better supporting pedals) or is this something that will come right?.

See my post a few meesages below under the Look Pedal discussion. I have been riding probably the same pedals since last August and I ride approx. 100 miles a week and I too am experiencing hot spots, foot numbness after about 30 miles into my rides. My LBS who I trust immensely seem to think its more my shoe than the pedals, and have suggested I see a local sports shoe store to look into inserts. I have tried Dr. Scholl's sports inserts which did not fix. I am currently using '99 Shimano Roadbike shoes $100 range that I purchased with the bike. As I stated below I have a hunch going to a wider cleat is a possible solution, not to mention a more stiff shoe which I have opted for the Nike Poggio and anxious to get my Look pedals hopefully today so I can put this numbness behind me and ride. I will definately let you all know my results because this numbness and hotspot concern seems to pop up every other week or so.

I too have a pair of 2000 Shimano roadbike shoes, they are a good stiff shoe but I am still getting the soreness and numbness after about 20km.
