Creaking Ksyriums(4 posts)

Creaking KsyriumsAFred

I've just swapped out my Mavic Open Pros for a pair of Ksyriums (Campy compatble ED10), and they make more noise than my grandpa's knees. Each time I push the cranks over hard, I hear a loud creak from what I think is the rear hub. What is this? How do I fix it?

I've seen prior posts on this, but can't seem to find them in the archive, so I apologize in advance for re-treading old ground.
I don't think this is your answer but...runstevierun

My K's came with a 5" or 6" diameter plastic spacer/chain drop protector that sat behind the freewheel (mine are shimano compatible).
It caused some noise, more a friction noise, so I took it off.
I've seen query's about the creaking a couple times but don't remember anyone responding substantively.

i was asking about this ...i needed to tighten the hub..i had loosened them cause i thought they were tight compared to my record ones but the records have loose bareings so the k's are supposed to be tighter...i tightened a bit and it healed..you need the tool which you should have
Thanks. I'll try it (nm).AFred
