BEST/SAFEST method for shipping a BikeJustSpinnin'

Howdy folks! I am looking to buy a bike very soon (after some years away) and will almost certainly be having it shipped from out of state.

I know I need to have the seller have it packed at a LBS but what is the BEST method of shipping from there?

I have heard UPS sucks...so what is safer?

Also, double box?

Thanks!

Use the fastest service you can afford. The less the box is handled, the less the chance for damage. Avoid the bike being shipped over a weekend. If the bike is being shipped in factory packaging, it should be fine. I work for a division of FedEx, so naturally I'm biased, but I have most of my items shipped overnight or second day.
Overnight or 2day freight is usually shipped via airplane instead of truck and is not handled as much as ground freight.
