The cxp-30 required the extra long ones, but not the cxp-33 (at least my wheelset was built with standard ones...)

yes, if you want to have plenty of valve with which to work. you can squeeze by without; my new ride with the cxp-33s came with extra-long valves, and it was very convenient. but...probably since it's the first time i've ever dealt with 'em, i caused a flat when pumping the rear tube and removing the pump by pulling a rip in the tube at the base of the valve. replaced it with a standard (small) presta, and it's less convenient, but still works.
