I ride a 99 Trek 5200 OCLV. The bike came with Rolf Vector Comp rims and I've owned it from new. I'm approximately 185lb's in the saddle, don't race, and would say I ride the bike cautiously (meaning I avoid bad surfaces and potholes etc.)

Last winter a pinking noise started in the back wheel. I thought it might be a drive-chain related noise but after much cleaning and investigation I narrowed it's source to the back wheel itself. I'd never trued the wheel because it had remained dead-on from day 1, actually impressively so. I thought that perhaps the spokes were rubbing together so needed more tension, which I put in.

Result was the noise stopped for one or two trips, but is slowly starting to come back again. Any ideas out there?

Joules
if that is your real name.
I don't believe it is a technical issue at all, if I was you I'd look at the size and weight of your arse.
