| Specialized Sirrus Sport vs. Bianchi Strada | Strom Apr 30, 2001 6:40 AM | | Hello,
I am looking for a new bike for commuting (~10 mi. each way) and general, all-purpose use (no off-road use). I've looked in a few stores, and the Specialized Sirrus Sport and the Bianchi Strada have been recommended to me as fast, but relatively comforatable and sturdy commuter bikes. (I'm a novice, but these bikes appear to lie somewhere between a hybrid and a road bike, with flat handlebars and narrow tires.) These bikes are both in the $700 range.
Any thoughts or recommendations on these bikes or others at or below this price range? |

I would throw in the Trek 7200FX or 7500FX and the Cannondale Road Warrior 500 or Road Warrior 800 too. It's hard to find these bikes in local shops around here. I think these type of bikes will become more and more popular as the population ages. People who want to stay active and know what a light, responsive and smooth working bike feels like will gravitate to this type of ride. |
