|The 200SCI has a better frame, and (assuming 9spd) components as well (hence the higher pricetag) - if you were to make the purchase from Kestrel directly, a new 200SCI w/DA goes for $3788 ($3988 if it has the clear weave finish), and the Talon w/105 for $1899... so it looks like a great deal on the SCI, and $100 high for the Talon (odd... probably they add pedals of some sort) |
I wouldn't let the 1" thing get to you - it really doesn't matter unless you are going to swap out the fork for an all-carbon one, in which case the 1 1/8" steerer would be good (but not essential) to have.
Assuming both fit you well, and both ride the way you like them, I would go with the 200SCI (better frame + better components)

|A good friend of mine uses a 200sci everyday for a 40 mile roundtrip commute. He is a 225 lb rider and beats it to death, not one problem. I live about 20 miles from Kestrel, So im also considering on buying one. I get alittle weiry of brand new bikes and cost saving technology(TALON), Although Kestrel bikes are known to be top of their carbon class. I'd probally go with the 200 Sci w/ Dura Ace, not only is it a proven bike, But the group set is better. Make sure its a 9 speed drivetrain.|

|I agree with the others on the 200SCI choice. Read the reviews in the reviews section for the 200SCI...I posted one there...as Gary.
Bottom line: 200SCI tried and true ; Talon: untested
