Anybody hear of anything going on with the carbon forks that are on the TCR's and OCR 1 line of bikes from Giant? My lbd says not to ride the TCR 2 I just bought that there is a fork cracking problem. He is trying to find out what Giant is planning to do about this. Any info? Thanks.

It is true. I work for an LBS which a Giant dealer. The recall affects all 2001 road bikes with carbon fiber forks. Giant will be sending the local dealers replacement forks which will be switched out on affected bikes. Contact your LBS for details and arrangements.

I was told to bring the bike to my local dealer and they would see if the fork needed to be replaced, and if so Giant would send a fork within 2 days. The guy I talked to at Giant did not know if there was a specific place were the forks would be cracking. I called 3 Giant dealers though and none of them knew about the recall yet. I have one local shop looking into it for me right now.

I called Giant and gotten a written statement read over the phone. They did not call it an "re-call," and warned me of "possible failures," and asked me to stop riding my bike. I asked what they were going to do, and they told me they would call me when they had "further information." I am pissed because I am training to race, and here I am without a usable bike. My bike shop won't put anything else on because nothing is "official." Giant assured me that whatever the problem is it would be taken care of. Is this the same response your getting?
