I test rode a 5200 today... it felt stable and solid, but kinda slow handling compared to my steel bike. Is this the typical experience?

I've had my 5200 for six weeks and it seems to handle a little quicker than my steel bike (LeMond Buenos Aires) but then, the LeMond bikes have a slightly more relaxed frame geometry and I went from Rolf Vectors to Vector Pro's. By the way, I wouldn't have purchased the Rolf Vector Pro's if I had known about the Speed Dream Aerolight wheels six weeks ago.

I didn't notice that effect, but it might be in part do to the longer than average top tube on the Trek frame. This would invariably increase the wheelbase. Although it doesn't turn the bike into a touring bike, bit may make the handling feel a tad slower. Again, I haven't noticed it in my riding. I can't think of material giving this impression, it would have to be geometry.

I tried a Lemond Zurich and Trek 5200. I felt that the Trek felt a little more sluggish when I jammed on the pedals but it's hard to tell because the Trek has a more overall "deading" feel to it so maybe it could of been misleading.

Anyhow, I ended up buying the Trek(I got a great price on a 00 model).

with my old steel bike i was avoiding the slightest cracks because i could feel them but not on the trek...i just point and go...the handling is abit different but i dont know if id call it sluggish...i dont think about it when im riding so i guess its fine..i have a 9cm stem on both bikes so they are itching to turn and that would counter any sluggish feeling..
